Carhartt Sandstone Active Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 9, 2006

I am so impressed by this Carhartt jacket. With winter taking hold I have just a little yard work left to take care of and I wouldnt want to work in my ski jacket. The active jacket is a great piece for getting dirty and gettin er done. My garage is cold but houses all my tools, and without my carhartts I would be stuck inside with my wife like a scared turtle.

Work Hoody.

Carhartt Thermal-Lined Hooded Full-Zip Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 9, 2006

There is something rewarding about being comfortable while I work. It is especially rare when the weather is piss poor and I would much rather be at home. I feel comfortable enough in this warm and durable hoody to help keep me going until at least lunch time. The only other jacket I need is the Active Jacket.

Mammut Pulse Barryvox Avalanche Beacon

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

At first I had trouble with this binding cause it stretched out and my tiny foot wouldnt stay in, but the rep showed me how to tighten this down to a 23.5. Give em a call, they are way chill and seem to ski more than spend time in the office. Yeah!

Brush?

Black Diamond Rope Brush

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

Ive known plenty of dirt bag climbers that dont even brush their teeth, but they never step on their rope and clean it regularly. This is your life line. Take care of your rope.

Ultimate Utility

G3 Bonesaw

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

Personally I am a fan. This is a great tool for snow science. One of my favorite features is that it has a measuring grid on the side. As we all know, snow is constantly morphing due to temperature changes. I used to use the plastic case that my magnifying glass sits in or a plastic card to look at snow crystals, but the variable speed that they degrade was sometimes frustrating. The beauty of the aluminum is that if you keep it out of the sun it will be nearly the same temperature as the snow which is good for a quick analysis of crystal types. Other than that I think it is perfect for cutting a profile, building a table, or cutting a small cornice. The handle is great and doesn’t slip out of my glove. Thank you for another innovative design!

Brilliance!!!

Eagle Creek Meridian 55L Travel Pack - 3150 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

I am impressed, but unfortunately my mother was even more impressed. After a trip together she stole it from me and now I am left missing this great piece. Like Kirk said it fits anywhere and will carry on to any airline. I would buy one for every traveler I know and hope someone thinks of me this x-mas.

I would never wear it around my neck.

Eagle Creek Undercover Neck Pouch

Rating for this product: 4 December 7, 2006

But it came in quite handy. It doesn’t really fit my passport snuggly, but worked fine as a sort of stow all pouch. I kept my passport, wallet, and American money in here, while I stashed photocopies of all my info in my pocket. It's good to know that all your info is consolidated and convenient for those moments you wake up in a hostel wondering if you just got ripped off. No digging around trying to find shit in your bag.

Track Skills

Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger Bag

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

Riding a bike requires balance, right. So why would you want your bag all tossed off to one side? You wouldn’t. This aint no 'man purse', this is a quality piece of gear. The cross strap balances the bag well for riding.

Timbuk2 Strap Pad

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

I bought this for my girlfriend who was complaining about her courier bag digging into her shoulder. She says it helps a ton, but she still needs to find a less labor intensive solution to studying law.

They work great.

Thule Load Bars - 1 Pair

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

The designers at Thule are fantastic. I have these attached with the Crossroad Railing Foot Pack. This keeps my load bars close to my roof keeping my MPG at a maximum. They are impossible to steal which is also comforting. If you want a great rack for your road bike, try the V2.

D-grip

Voile Telepro Shovel

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

What can I say, I like moving snow. There is no other reason to have a shovel. I get nervous when someone busts out their gardening tools and thinks that they could dig me out if there is a problem. I call bs. I need something durable with leverage and good grip. I wear mittens on cold days and have no trouble with the assembly and usage of this shovel. I used to have the wood saw inside the handle but got rid of it when i bought the g3 bonesaw.

Just a quick reminder...

Jetboil Coffee Press

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

This Coffee Press is God's gift to humankind, but please remember not to add your coffee grounds until you have turned the heat off. To make proper French press coffee you pour boiling water over your grounds and steep for four minutes. My tried-and tested-method is to get a second Companion Cup (Item # JET0003). I put the grounds in the extra, boil water in the other one, and pour the boiling water in the spare that is not attached to the stove. It works great!!!

Ready for greatness

Flux Titan Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

“Who the hell is Flux?!?” That’s what I said when I found these at a demo last year. When I tried them out I was blown away. They were supper responsive like the Rome Targa, but they fit my supper small feet really well. The cap strap is innovative and very comfortable. Would anyone like to buy me a pair? I am very poor. Flux is carries a huge presence in the scene around Hokkaido... Cool.

Ortovox 320cm PFA Probe

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

The T-grip handle is fantastic and easy to use, the color variations per section are great for easy reading. I feel that the durability for weight ratio is a great balance, even in heavy, wet debris.

Easy, but not sleazy

Backcountry Access Tracker DTS beacon

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

I have used several beacons and this is the easiest to use. Although i personally use a different piece this is the one I bought for my brother. I feel safe in his novice hands with this beacon, even though I let him lead the way on most descents. We have been practicing a lot lately and his skills are improving much more rapidly than mine did, and I am positive that this tool is an integral part of his rapid discovery. I hope to have many more days with him.
