They're rated down to 0ºf but that might be pushing it if your feet fun cold. They aren't water/snow proof but they are resistant. You can always pick up some Nikwax to make them even more water/snow proof/resistant.

My wife's boots go up to her mid-calf. and the opening on hers is about 4" in diameter. They're really cute and seem to last a long time.
